From 'Council Deadlocks on New Mayor'. sopo_westend said I’m just curious—and I’m not being facetious—what has Mayor Soule accomplished during his first year as mayor? I mean, let’s say that the citizens were actually allowed to elect the mayor, and Mayor Soule was campaigning and a reporter asked him what accomplishments he was most proud of during his first term, what would he say? His secession thing obviously didn’t work, and when he backpedaled and said it was to draw attention to the lack of education funding our city receives… well, clearly we’re still in the same situation and it doesn’t appear that anybody in Augusta noticed (aside from Baldacci getting a good laugh from the secession idea)…

From 'Is Bankruptcy Near for Maine Mall Parent?'. sopo_westend said I am truly surprised by the school board results. Fassett and Allen made such an effort to reach out to the voters and to connect with them, and I think both did a very good job of that… whereas Baxter and Callaghan stayed in the shadows and said almost nothing.

From 'Smith, Hughes, Coward Win Council'. sopo_westend said OK, so bodily fluids are “transferred” from the client’s skin to the artist’s rubber gloves. Fine. But “exchange” of bodily fluids is what was being said by certain councilors, and that implies that the fluids are going from one human to another human, and that simply does not happen… unless Mr. Soule and Ms. Beecher were thinking about prison tattoos or something...?
