An Ocean Street condominium sold for a cool half-million, topping residential real estate sales in South Portland in March and April. A condominium at Anchorage Place sold for $400,000. Both are on the water.
It is still possible to find a home or condo for under $200,000 with homes on O’Neil, Maietta Parkway, Sprague and Masschusetts Avenue among the transactions.
In addition, a commercial property on Western Avenue sold for close to $1 million.

An office building on Western Avenue that sold for close to $1 million tops real estate sales for February and March. Overall the number of real estate sales were on the upswing after several months of a sluggish market.
Whether the increase in home sales will continue remains to be seen, since an April deadline for receiving a federal tax credit prompted an uptick in transactions across Maine and the nation, according to media reports.

The web site Trulia is reporting an uptick in South Portland homes sales in April, compared to the same month in 2009. There were 28 residential transactions, compared to 22 in 2009. The median-price sale was $208,000, up from $164,000.
